Dear Friend of ACETA,
Each year, the Association of College English Teachers of Alabama (ACETA) sponsors awards for outstanding essays by faculty and students. I am pleased to announce that competition for the 2016 William J. Calvert Award for an outstanding scholarly or theoretical essay and for the 2016 James Woodall Award for an outstanding pedagogical essay is now open to college English teachers and graduate students. For undergraduates, competition for the Mary Evelyn McMillan Undergraduate Writing Award is also open. Winners of these awards will receive $150 each and will be asked to read condensed versions of their essays at the 2016 ACETA conference, which will take place on February 26 and 27, 2016 at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Please see the attachments for more detailed information on entering the Calvert, Woodall, or McMillan competition. Entries should be submitted, preferably by e-mail, to me at the address on the call.
Please pass along these calls to colleagues who might not be on our mailing list. Gloria Horton (ACETA President), the rest of the ACETA steering committee, and I look forward to reading many excellent essays.
Anissa M. Graham
ACETA Executive Secretary
