As the end of fall semester approaches, please take a moment to nominate English faculty, graduate students, and undergraduate students from your institution who have produced some outstanding scholarly work this past year.  We are accepting papers for the following awards until Dec. 18:

Winners of these awards will receive $150 each and will be asked to read condensed versions of their essays at the 2019 ACETA conference, which will take place March 1-2, 2019 at the University of Montevallo in Montevallo, Alabama.

Conference proposals still being accepted

Conference proposals are also still being considered for ACETA’s 2019 Conference on the Sympathetic Imagination: Literature, Film, and Writing of Sympathy and Empathy

This year we’ve added special strands to the conference in order to cater to the interest of our members, including strands focusing on retired faculty, gender studies, and creative writing.

ACETA’s annual conference provides opportunities for all Alabama college English faculty and students to present their scholarly work and be exposed to what is going on in the state of Alabama in the field of English studies, as well as hear from English scholars who have been recognized nationally for their expertise, such as the 2018 Eugene Current-Garcia recipient, Professor Emeritus David Cowart.  In addition to the recognition for achievement through the various awards that ACETA sponsors, the ACETA conference becomes an invaluable resource for in-state networking (especially for graduate students) and for establishing valuable partnerships.  Mark your calendars for March 1–2, 2019 and encourage faculty and graduate students at your institution to participate. We look forward to seeing you there!
